One year ago as we entered the 11th year publishing this website, I wrote, “In 2021, we hope to corral the pandemic and turn our backs on the cultural and political discord that threatens to destroy the goodness that is inherent in each of us.”  Alas, as a race, society, and culture, we failed on both counts.

In 2022 – our 12th year – I begin the new year with the same hope and with the same approach to discover fresh, new, invigorating, and positive ways to make the world a better place, ways that do not include the vitriolic hate and fist-waving rhetoric and bloviation characteristic of the previous two years.  There is too much at stake.

In 2021, I became very attentive to the environment… to what we are doing – intentionally or not – to destroy our planet… and to what we are not doing to preserve it for our progenies.  Governments will not preserve the planet.  Motivated individuals like you and I will.  It is an obligation no one can deny.

In 2022, we will offer many thoughts on climate change and on transforming our world as it relates to the United Nations Resolution 70/1 from September 2015, “The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

“Le Bon Samaritain” by Aime Morot, 1880

I continue to stand by the two most important stories in all of literature:  the story of the good Samaritan and the story of the adulterous woman.  We are obligated to be our brother’s keeper to ensure that all life matters.  We must never forget that no one is without fault… “Neither do I condemn you.  Go your way and sin no more.”

Actions will advance the goodness that is a part of each person’s DNA.  We are born to do the right thing.  Let that thought guide our decisions in 2022.

Always make prayer a part of your life.  Pray for peace and pray for children.

“Prayer is the presence that holds harmony in the midst of chaos.  Every time you pray, you add to the light and harmony of creation.  If you do not pray, if you do not believe in prayer, then you are living off the prayers of other people.”

John O’Donohue, 1956 – 2008
