God speaks to us in many ways, most, perhaps, are unexpected.  All we must do is listen and be attentive.

This morning’s Examen on the “Pray As You Go” Jesuit website is as timely as it is meaningful and powerful.  My prayer today is that you, my friend will take a few minutes and listen to it.  It is certain to bring you peace and comfort in times of personal need or as you pray for your friends in need.

How Is Your Body Today?
From “Pray As You Go…”

As we approach Holy Week, you might want to use today’s prayer to look back over the weeks of Lent so far. Whether or not you are making Lent a deliberate journey, you can still make this your prayer.

Take some slow, deep breaths in, hold, and then breathe, deeply and slowly, out.

The very breath of God in us. Ask God to breathe life into this prayer time.

Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out.

Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out.

How is your body today? Show it compassion, not self-pity, compassion. Give thanks for the life in your body.

For a moment reflect on Christ as he prepared for His passion. How might he have been feeling in His body?

Look back over the weeks of Lent so far.

Has anything gladdened your heart? Lightened your step? Brought your mind peace? Be thankful.

Has anything made your heart heavy? Felt like a weight on your shoulders? Made your head hang low? Speak to God about it.

Is there anything new you’ve discovered? Lay it before God. Ask for whatever you need to continue on your journey.

Think ahead, with anticipation, to Holy Week.

You have given all to me
To you Lord I return it
Everything is yours
Do with it what you will
Give me only your love and your grace
That is enough for me.
Amen.
