As Payten explains to her uncle Paul (and St Paul explains to the Ephesians in today’s first reading) – things change. St Paul could deal with change – no matter how challenging – because he experienced Christ living within him. We, too, can deal with whatever the world offers if we remember that, like the Ephesians, we too, have been “consecrated to God” – we, too, have Christ living in us.
“I commend you to God and to that gracious word of his that can build you up and give you the inheritance among all who are consecrated.”
“Your word [Father] is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent [the ones you have given me] into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”
