Desert Reflections: That all may be one

In today’s gospel, Fr Peter points out, Jesus shares with us his intimate relationship with the Father. Our prayer for each other joins us to his prayer to the Father. Our love for each other joins us to Jesus’ love for the Father, the Father’s love for him, and their love for us. God lives in us and we in God.

Today’s Readings

The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage. For just as you have borne witness to my cause in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness in Rome.”
ACTS 22:30; 23:6-11

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying: “I pray not only for these [disciples], but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us.”
JN 17:20-26
